The Myth of Quick Fix Weight Loss
Take this time to do some self-reflection!
Ask yourself what’s your motivator? What does health mean to you? Are you ready to accommodate for the change necessary to improve your health?
Everyone is different, with different goals, dreams and timelines. One person may be already halfway through their health journey whereas another has only just begun thinking about it. Just be sure to make the decision that is best for you.
One important lesson for us all is that when you shift your focus to something that is good for you physically, mentally and emotionally, the results are always worthwhile.
Here’s the second step towards starting your health journey; mindfulness, a term used to describe complete awareness in the present happenings, so that each decision or action made is thoughtful and made with clear intentions. This powerful tool will help guide all of the decisions you make in regards to your health ranging from your food choices to your social interactions and everything in between.
This might seem like it’s a lot to commit to, but all you have to do is start off simple and build yourself from there. The rule is to wholly be present and aware in your life, so how about some tips to get you started:
- Since it’s all about intentions, set aside some time in your day to write down your goals or reasons for the activities that go on in your life, from there you can note down which things you want to improve.
- Rather than quantifying your success through numbers, such as a weighing scale, focus on your emotions and thoughts, such as rating your happiness levels in different situations.
- While multi-tasking might make you feel productive, it’s causing your brain to focus on too many things at once, making it harder to be mindful of all of its actions. So, for a change, try to only do one task at a time but with complete focus on it only.
- When we do things in a rush, we don’t get the time to focus on the task at hand because our mind is too focused on getting it done as quickly as possible. So instead, try to slow down when your doing a task, such as when you’re eating lunch, take one extra minute to chew your food more and enjoy the flavours.
